I loathe taking this bridge. The views of Detroit/Windsor are great, but the US customs agents here seem to always be in an upset mood. I highly recommend taking the tunnel, the agents at that crossing are polite as well as very professional!

Also, the Ambassador Bridge is somehow privately owned by a slumlord who neglects properties in Detroit and Windsor. Can't wait until the publicly owned Gordie Howe bridge opens.
